"What did you get for Christmas?"
"Nightmares… I got nightmares!"
Lazarus watched his two business partners with curiosity…
He knew that there were people in this world that had the coin for more than one pair of pants… hell, enough coin for a lot o' things… but he had never worked with one. Where he had come from there was constant war and poverty. There was no jobs and no money unless you took it from another. He knew that there was something strange about Edward, education or no, and yet could not quite put a finger on what was so different.
Ian, on the other hand, talkes way too much. He must not have seen much of the world- when you're hungry, ya tend to eat anything available to keep yourself alive. Not that I'd expect that either of my two partners would have experienced this. There is a touch of softness about that one. Why bother in savin' a wagon when there is nothing in it for you? Perhaps he's missin' someone? Perhaps somethin' in his past triggers him to do fool things. I'd admit… would be nice to feel something again… to feel the love of family…
Lazarus subconsciously placed his hand over the pocket on his chest. He could feel the old picture tucked there, hidden away safely and sighed to himself.
